It seems like all of New York is undergoing some kind of makeover these days, from road construction, to shiny new structures rising up from the ground. And scaffolding is everywhere, to the extent that it feels like a part of a building's natural facade. But have you ever paused long enough to watch scaffolding being assembled? It's quite a beautiful, graceful process, with the construction workers setting and tightening poles into place, then climbing and hoisting themselves up onto the next rung to do the same, higher and higher they go. These guys could be second-life cirque du soleil performers—or cat burglars.
